 What's New at CAYRE Music Alive 2012 ?

Glee/Show Choir Class for Elementary and Secondary Schools
Class #1155
This type of performing ensemble has been a standard in American schools and Music Festivals for many years and since the advent of the hit television series it is becomimg just as popular on this side of the border. Now you can bring your group to our "Regionals" to perform in a less threatening, non-competitve environment.

Composer's Workshop Classes for Elementary and Secondary Bands
Class #2035 - Elementary Composer's Workshop
Class #2121 - Secondary Junior Band Composer's Workshop
Class #2131 - Secondary Senior Band Composer's Workshop
How often can you take your band to a Music Festival and participate in a clinic/workshop with the composer of the piece of music you are performing? This year Music Alive is giving you that opportunity. A chance to hear what inspired the creative process, how the piece was written and how the composer ultimately wants it to sound. Bring your band to one of the Clinic/Festival Sessions above and give your kids a chance to meet and work with the composers of some very recent and popular scores for band.

CAYRE Music Alive 2012
CAYRE Music Alive is now twelve years old as a region wide music festival that involves Public, Catholic, Private Schools and community musicians.It is unique in that it is a non-competitive, educational festival that offers participants the opportunity to receive a rating based on international standards. Music Alive spans over seven weeks after the March Break each year and it involves well over 14,000 musicians. It is financially supported by the private sector, school boards and participants. Music Alive is administered by a committee of volunteers drawn from industry, the community and our schools. In 2008 Music Alive became fully affiliated with MusicFest Canada.

The goals of CAYRE Music Alive are.......

  • to celebrate the joy of sharing musical experiences;

  • to promote reciprocal learning from peers and colleagues;

  • and to foster the growth of teachers and students in musicality and self-esteem.
