Visual Arts Alive is a visual arts show that features the work of students in schools throughout York Region. Students from kindergarten to grade 12 are encouraged to submit a work that is based on a specified theme.
In 2008 participants were asked to create a banner based on "Greening Our Community". It was a chance for students to explore their relationship with the environment and their community, either local or global. The banners were displayed as a group show in the GREAT HALL at the Region of York Administration Building and then they moved to libraries throughout our community. The artists were each presented with a beautiful illustrated catalogue featuring pictures of the artists, their work and their written statements.
The festival also offers "Working with Artists" workshops as an annual part of the festival. Participating teachers and students attend a full day workshop at Seneca College, King Campus. More information about this year’s Visual Arts Alive Festival will be posted on this website in the near future.
