Music Alive 2019
Music Alive 2019, one of the largest music festivals in the country, is preparing an innovative program for this coming year. New program, new adjudicators, and new opportunities for the students to perform in front of audiences in some of the best venues in York Region: Newmarket Theatre, Y.C.D.S.B. Centre for Performing Arts, and the Cosmopolitan Hall at Cosmo Music. In addition, some ensembles will be invited to perform at the final Character Community Awards / Music Alive Gala evening, scheduled for April 24th, to be held at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts Theatre!
Once again, students will have the opportunity to perform for one another and be adjudicated by some of the foremost music educators on the continent. We thank Head Adjudicator: Dennis Carpenter for inviting the following adjudicators to appear in 2019: Cory Gemmell, Lisette Canton, Carol Ratzlaff, Ron Westray, Kelly Jefferson, Dennis Beck, Sharon Fitzsimmins, John Phillips, Bill Thomas, Doug Manning, Colin Clarke, and Travis Grubissi. We expect to continue to reach-out to other adjudicators, who will certainly be invited to contribute their expertise once again in 2019. Music Alive 2019 will certainly be a memorable event for your students; one that will contribute to their musical growth and understanding. I highly recommend that you consider applying to the virtual category.
The Festival opens on Monday, March 4, 2019, and closes on Friday, May 17, 2019. Specific dates and classes will be available on this website on Monday, October 15, 2018, as will registration.
